One of the special gifts of sponsorship is the privilege of sending and receiving letters with/from your sponsor child. Astrid often colors a picture for us to include with her letters. It’s fun to see the drawings and to hear about her life. I share pictures and stories of our family with Astrid and hope that she gains a little insight about our lives as we have learned about her life and home. Corresponding can be a humbling experience as I make sure not to include details about material possessions that we have, the plentiful food that we take for granted or the silly things we American’s think are important. Her letters often reveal how modestly they live and how important the Compassion program is in her life. It is not often you receive such an intimate glimpse into a life half way around the world.
